Is it possible to make a shortcut to change the screen resolution in Vista? I need to put one on the desktop because one of my husband's games changes the resolution and I don't think he'll be able to find his way through the path to change the resolution.

I've seen an ad for some programs that will change the resolution, but I don't know if I can trust them. I'd just like a simple shortcut.

    Thanks.

Have you tried right clicking on the desktop, selecting Properties and then click on the settings tab ??

If your husband can't remember that sequence, he probably isn't doing very well with his games either.

Right click an empty spot on the dekstop and select "Screen Resolution".

Note: I'm running Windows 7 on this PC. So, that option may not be available. I don't have access to a Vista PC right now.

And a little later. On a Vista machine you need to right click the desktop and select Personalize and then Display Settings. I'll have to try later to see about a shortcut.

I found the following shortcut for this task in XP here.....

    rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,3

It might work in Vista, but if not, trying it won't do any harm.
