    If field tied to pull down box (Word 97)

    I've got a pull down box with two options. Depending on what the user chooses in the pull down box, I want to automatically add text to the following line in the document. But, I can't get the IF field to recognize different options in the pull down box. Here's what I've got so far:

    {IF Dropdown5 = "Included""See attatched""n/a"}

    If this worked as planned, if "included" was selected in the pull down box, the words "See attatched" would appear and if not, the "n/a" would appear.

    Can I do the IF function based on results from a pull down box? What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for your help,

    Re: If field tied to pull down box (Word 97)

    First, the test is likely to be case sensitive so there is a difference between "included" and "Included."

    Second, I've had better luck using the REF field rather than just the bookmark name, i.e.:
    { IF { REF "Dropdown5" } = "Included" "See attached" "n/a" }

    Third, spaces are sometimes very important in fields. Try a space between your truetext and your falsetext.

    Fourth, I would recommend a more meaningful name than Dropdown5 for your bookmark. It will make debugging a lot easier.

    For more on fields, follow the links at . For more on forms, try those at <A target="_blank" HREF=>Web Resources - Forms.

    Hope this helps.
