Hellow Members. Newbie to this site. I bought Windows XP for Dummies book when I got my first Windows XP machine. Have found alot of the information very helpfull. I think I have been scammed by SupportonClick.com. What I am concerned about at this moment is they have had remote access to my computer(I really am the Dummie here). I need to know exactly how to protect my computer from them getting to it without my knowing it. I don't know if they can do that. We were having trouble with Hughes.net with slow upload and download speed, my husband sent them an email about it, a few days later we get a call from SoC saying they could help, so we thought they were with hughesnet, everything was done over the phone. Later I looked on the net to see if they were scammers. Am I out 300 bucks or can I do something. It has been 5 days since they got my money. Thanx Val

    Welcome to the Lounge.

The opinions vary on this one form what I can find online. It could be a scam or a new service suffering growing pains. If you suspect it's a scam I would file a dispute of the charge ASAP with your credit card company or stop payment on any check you sent. They seem to have a refund policy posted on their site here that gives you a partial refund if requested within 30 days. I'd act quickly if you plan to.

Take a look at this Google Search and make up your own mind about it.

Thanx for the post, I have been sending email to where they said I had to make my request three and four a day for the last 4 days with not even an auto responder. They don't want to hear from me it is clear they are a scammmmmmmmmm. Bank says the same thing, I think it is the only way to go.

I tend to agree with your assessment. Follow the banks advise and ask them to advocate for you in the dispute. If you sent them a check and it's been cashed, you may have no recourse with a foreign based company.
