    From a macro written in Excel, I want to create a new powerpoint application (reguardless if I already have another powerpoint application open or not) and a blank slide.
    I can program in excel to copy certain data/objects from excel into power point if its already open but I don't get how to create a power point slide in the first place.

    The code:
    Set PP = CreateObject ("PowerPoint.Application")
    PP.visible=true

    Opens power point but no blank slide.

    You could add
    PP.Presentations.Add
    PP.ActivePresentation.Slides.Add Index:=1, Layout:=ppLayoutTitle
    to your code
    (this assumes you are using early binding, otherwise you will need to replace ppLayoutTitle with 1)
