Prices are nice now with Vista & free upgrade to Windows 7.
Is it best to buy later when 7 comes loaded or do I get as good of an operating system by upgrading vista to free windows 7.
    Thanks for the advise.

I agree with Dave. It won't be much longer until you can buy a new machine WITH Windows 7 ALREADY installed and setup. They aren't doing you any favor by making YOU do the work of installing Win 7 later.

As Dave & Al said, be patient. All good things come to he who waits.

And waiting 3-4 weeks to get your new PC with Windows 7 installed and all the right hardware, software & drivers installed and configured will be a good thing.

"Free" upgrades to Windows 7 tend to be charged the cost of shipping and taxes, etc. Toshiba in the UK are charging 27.90 for their upgrade; a German manufacturer, Medion, is charging about 19 in the UK; Dell say "shipping and handling may apply". Have a look at this investigative blog about it (when they fix their website!)...

So as everyone suggests, it is probably best to wait a month!
