Table properties (W2000, SR-1)

When creating a table, Word have a set of predefined properties, e.g. I want to set the default cell margins to other than 0,19 cm, etc..

How can I keep the properties I want myself?
Do I have to edit the registry?

Although I can set them while I have Word running they will not be standard creating a new table the next time I start word.

I have earlier seen a MVP about the registry: What exactly does the Data Key in the Registry store? and related MVPs, but I would like to have a book/description with more details about the registry.
Does one exist?

Thanks for any help in this matter!

Don't know about books and registry. Would suggest you check in the books forum or the VB forum.

As to tables, this isn't in the registry so far as I know. It is hard-wired into Word (until 2002). In Word 2002 you can set styles for tables. Romke Soldaat wrote an article showing code that lets you do the same in earlier versions. See Table Styles in additional written / web resources at Tables in Microsoft Word.

Thanks to both contributions.

It is always good to be sure; in this case that the table properties cannot be preset. Save me a lot of searching. Will have to wait for W2002 then.

I will try the AutoText/AutoFomat methods.

Registry
Can't understand that Microsoft do not want to issue a book describing the registry. It would certainly minimise all enquiries of trouble related to faults in the registry.

Thanks again
