    Global Macro Button (97)

At the end of a macro I do a 'send keys' so that my database automatically compacts & repairs itself.

    My question is two fold
    1. Can I do this in a way other than send keys
    2. I would like to have this as a button on my toolbar so that whatever database I have open, I can just click on it to compact & repair.

I know in Excel you can have a personal macro area, but i'm not sure about Access.

Don't know if this helps - and this is the only way I know how to do this with my limited knowledge. In a macro you can use the RunCommand to CompactDatabase and RunCommand to RepairDatabase. Then, using Tools : Macro : Create Menu from Macro you can create a custom command bar with two dropdowns which you can dock to a form or something like that. Or, alternatively, just add those commands at the end of your macro.

Are you talking about macros in the Excel/BA sense of the word or in the Access sense? There's a huge difference, since Excel and the rest of Office don't have an equivalent to Access macros.

In the Access sense. Doesn't matter whether it be a macro or VBA

    Hope I'm making sense...
