Is there a way to do a runing total in a Access query?

It's easier to calculate running totals in a report, because reports have built-in support for them, but it can be done in a query too: see How to create a running totals query in Access 2000 (works in other versions of Access too).

You have to keep in mind that the overhead of calculating running totals in a query is relatively high - if you have a large number of records, it will have a noticeable (negative) effect on performance.
