Upgraded to Office 2007. Trying to open an access file that was created in a previous version.

A window pops up with the message “Your MS Office Access db or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file ‘dao2535.tlb version 3.5. To insure that your database or project works properly, you must fix this reference”.

If I click the “OK” button, the window reappears and after the 7th click of the OK button, the window goes away and the database opens.

How can I get rid of the error message?

That is a very old reference, it must date from Access 95 or so.

Press Alt+F11 to Activate the Visual Basic Editor.
    Select Tools | References...
Clear the check box for Microsoft DAO 2.5/3.5 Object Library (or similar)
    Click OK.
    Select Tools | References... again.
Scroll down, and tick the check box for Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library.
    Click OK.

You will have to do this for each database in which the error occurs, there is no way to do this globally.
