I'm running IE 7 on Vista 64 bit, is it safe yet to upgrade to IE 8? I also use Firefox, but need to continue to use IE at different times.

    Thanks.

Many sites have not been specifically updated for IE8. Of these, the sites that were coded to web standards will run without a problem, and most others will run quite well in compatibility mode. A few sites, however, will be seriously broken because of scripting-related changes. If you find that a site you rely on will not run in IE8, you can uninstall it, and revert to IE7.

I haven't yet found a site that won't work at all in IE8, even in compatibility mode.

I've been running IE8 since one of the beta versions. I recommend you upgrade to it. In my experience, IE8 is faster and more stable than IE7. If you run into a site that does not render correctly use compatability mode. I've not run into a site that is completely unusable for quite a while.
