I recently upgraded a computer to Vista basic. Now, my wife is complaining that the screen is "blurry". In the past, I would fix this by pushing the refresh rate up to 75 mhz or so. However, in the preferences area for the monitor, the one and only choice is 60 mhz. I have an older Compaq Presario SR1550NZ and the Compaq FS7600 monitor that came with it. Please help - I hae to keep her happy, or else I'm not happy.

There is a (fairly heated) exchange of views about this matter, without a firm conclusion, here.

All I could suggest above this is to see if there is a newer driver on the Compaq website, and to check whether you are using ClearType, which is important for a CRT monitor.
Other than that, new LCD monitors are around 100 (and no doubt $100) - surely worth it for a happy wife?! (Or buy a new Windows 7 PC in less than a fortnight's time...)
