Opera settings for lounge (Opera 5.12)

Happened to use Opera 5.12 on the lounge while testing other item. Noticed it came up in Lizard skin and I could not switch to another skin.

Settings (Opera | File | Preferences) set to:
History and Cache/Check Modified: All setting to Always Check.
Privacy/Cookies: Accept All Cookies. Accept from all servers.

More of an annoyance than a problem as I normally work from IE6.

    Any ideas?

Ian I have found the same. I use Opera almost exclusively although I have IE6 and NS6 onmy machine. From time to time I find javascript buttons and links don't work although I don't know why. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

Has anybody discovered anything further on this problem?
I'm not too familiar with the way Opera works so I'm at a loss as to where to look.
Is it a general CSS thing? Do other sites that use stylesheets behave oddly?

    Eileen:

It may be a problem in your browser sniffer. Opera and NS6.1 are both w3c compatible. So whatever works for NS should work for Opera.

But I'm not checking - I give all the browsers the same stylesheets. It works fine in NS6...

Er... "the multiple "link rel" for the sheets" ?
    I don't follow. <img src=/S/nuts.gif border=0 alt=nuts width=15 height=15>

Re: Opera settings for lounge (Opera 5.12)

Eileen, I wouldn't worry too much about this issue. I think it is more a weakness with the browser than with your setup/code. When I am researching javascripts to use on a website that I might be building I have to use IE cos they just don't work with Opera. Although Opera is java enabled there seem to be some major weaknesses with it, as javascript buttons and links often don't work as they do with IE. Still a great browser though for the most part! <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

    Hey again.

Looked at the source in Opera and IE6, both the same. Validated both sheets at w3c (just fine, a few warnings, but you qualify for w3c logo).

Only thing I can see is something screwy happening with the multiple "link rel" for the sheets.

Will play with it later offline to see if I can isolate the problem.

If you look at the beginning of the code generated for Control Panel you will see three "link rel=..." statements. In my case for OldStyle12, Lizard14, and Oldstyle12.

Ah, that's the bit of javascript that allows you to switch stylesheets.
I've removed it and now Opera doesn't insist on using Lizard any more.
BUT it forgets who I am every time I try to go to the Control Panel... <img src=/S/razz.gif border=0 alt=razz width=25 height=17>

I'm not going to lose sleep over it but it would be nice if I could get it to behave itself. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
