1. In column A I have over 500 contract names, with many being duplicates, triplicates etc. In column B I have an associated number with each contract (where there are duplicates, triplicates, etc., the same number would be assigned to the same contract). In column C I ran a unique sort on column A and culled the list down to only the unique contract names. What I would like to do in column D is "associate" or list each contract number to the unique list created in column C. Any ideas?

2. You should be able to use VLOOKUP for this.

In D1: =VLOOKUP(C1,\$A\$1:\$B\$550,2,FALSE)

(adjust the last row 550) and fill down.

Thanks Hans. Actually, I was mistaken. column A contains the contract numbers, and column B the names. How would I need to revise the formula?
Thanks again.

4. Try

=INDEX(\$A\$1:\$A\$550,MATCH(C1,\$B\$1:\$B\$550,0))

=INDEX(\$A\$1:\$A\$550,MATCH(C1,\$B\$1:\$B\$550,0))[/quote]

Thanks Hans-works just fine!
