Hi all....I am trying to help a friend who uses VISTA get their computer fixed....it connects wirelessly to the router/modem, but won't connect thru to the internet...I have tried a 'repair' and an 'uninstall/install' of the built-in wireless adapter....no luck.....I then wanted to do a system restore back to end of August when the problem first surfaced, but the restore points only go back as far as the end of September......any ideas on the porblem with he adapter? Any suggestions as to how I can get to a restore point at the end of August if it is not shown in the list of restore points?....thanks.

System restore points will only go back as far as the available space allocated to SR. My Computer>Properties>System Restore should show the drive involved and the percentage of disk space you have given it. Beyond that, if you don't have an Image of the OS drive, I'm afraid you are out of luck.
    Wireless router/modem:
Has this ever worked or are you setting this up for the first time?
Have you checked in Device Manager to see if the adapter is recognized OK by the system?
Are the drivers up to date for it?

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

Thank you Bob.....I guess that I am out of luck re the system restore....it also seems that part of the problem is the anti-virus software....I am going to disable/uninstall it and see if that helps....thank you.

Disable it first. Don't uninstall it unless you absolutely have to.

You might also check the firewall to see if it is blocking the connection.
