ISIS for Excel hangs on Startup (XL2K; I4XL 1.1.6; Win98)

On my machine I am running a 3rd party excel add-in (MDL's ISIS for Excel). Recently, the performance has been SEVERELY affected with Excel taking a couple of minutes to load (hanging on the *.xla) and upto 5 mins for a relatively simple spreadsheet to load (10+ for any s/sheets with chemical structures).
I have de-installed I4XL, re-installed, repaired my O2K installation and it still happens (if anything getting progressively worse).
I4XL 1.1.4 was very flaky in my experiences but the newer version worked fine (until recently).
Any ideas as to the problem?
Any thoughts on a solution or am I looking at a rebuild?

    Cheers,
    Gavin

What happens if you remove all of the files from your XLStart directory? It could be a file there that is causing this problem.

The only file in the xlstart folder is the add-in's xla, which I need. If I uninstall (after removing from excel first!), excels performance is ALMOST back to reasonable. Unfortunately, for the work I'm doing I really need the add-in in place.

Anyone had any experience of this add-in? Similar probs with other add-ins?

    Regards,
    Gavin

Why is the add-in in the xlstart folder? There it will be loaded regardless if it is installed or not.

It'd be better to put the xla elsewhere and install it using the usual Tools, install, browse method.
