    Talking

First off I wasn’t sure where to post my question, I thought here is as good as any.
I have an Excel xlsb workbook and a Word docm working together for a report that I use.
My question, is OpenOffice compatible enough to use with these type of file and still be able to navigate and use with macros.
    Thank you

The Calc and Writer applications in Open Office support VBA to some extent, but I doubt that they support Automation, i.e. controlling one application from the other using code. In other words, I don't think you can manipulate a Writer document from Calc, or a Calc spreadsheet from Writer.
Hopefully someone who has Open Office will have more definitive information.

    Thank you HansV
I searched the web earlier before posting my question hoping to find an answer, but not much luck. I heard in the grape vine they had some compatibility, but I just wasn’t sure to what extent.

OpenOffice.org is compatible with MS Office at the document content level. As soon as you start dealing with macros, and because of the differences of the object models (internal representations of cells, sheets, paragraphs, documents, etc.), the compatibility is quite low, although Novell claims that they run VBA macros in their own version derived from OpenOffice.org.

I started a different thread in one of the other forums on this topic.
I have a rather large Excel VBA app that I want to convert to OO Calc VBA.
Other than a consultant in Serbia, no responses.
Does anyone know a CURRENT reference book for OO VBA? Or a site with "Rosetta Stone" style info?
