    Unhappy

Recently Outlook 2003 will not close upon exit. The program screen exits from the desktop, but stays in the icon tray and shows as still running in task manager. I have run Scanpst.exe to no effect. Any help would be appreciated.

See OUTLOOK.EXE continues running after you exit Outlook

Have you recently installed or updated Outlook add-ins?
You might try disabling add-ins temporarily - look in Tools | Options..., Other tab, Advanced Options...
Ordinary add-ins are listed when you click Add-In Manager...
COM add-ins are listed when you click COM Add-Ins...
If the problem disappears when you disable add-ins, you know where to search for the culprit.

If this fails, you could try creating a new e-mail profile in the Mail control panel.

The only solution that worked was to add the Outlook shutdown addin.
