    Invisible Footer (word 2000)

I've just reinstalled Word 2000 on a clean Windows install. Am trying to set up footers in my new documents. However, although the footer text shows up when I'm in View.. Headers and Footers, it doesn't show in Print Layout view, nor does it print. Happens on brand new docs as well as existing ones. Any ideas? I've checked footer margins, text colour, tried different footers on header page etc, but no joy. <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>

Your normal.dot file often becomes corrupt. Reinstalling does not remove/replace the normal.dot file. Close Word. Try finding and renaming normal.dot (on your C<img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> to abnormal.dot, and then relaunch Word. If Word doesn't find normal.dot it creates a brand new one.

Thanks for the tip. Everything now ok. Don't know how it happened since it was a brand new install, but maybe one of the documents I'd been sent somehow corrupted things. Not a virus though - have checked that. Anyway all is now ok. Ta. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>
