    Hi,
Can anyone guide me to a recommended software package which will allow me to digitally remaster some old audio files which are quite grainy due to the age of the recording. They have the normal pops and crackling associated with old recordings, however there are alot of files which need to be tidied up as they are audio book files with alot of chapters.

    Thanks in advance.

That's the sort of thing Audacity might be able to do. Or, from a search of the Audacity forum, there is this application, DePopper

Please note I've not tried either of these apps so usual health warnings apply.
