I have become accustomed to being able to scroll through the thread when composing a reply, to sharpen my response and to avoid duplication. On some boards, you have to click a link to reveal the thread or to launch it in a new window. However, this new software does not seem to have any option.

Hereby requesting a change when possible. (Similar comment by peterg.)

Even Eileen's original board showed the post to which the reply was being made; subsequent versions of the board showed the whole thread.

It would help so much to see previous posts- preferably not just the one being replied to.

You can see the whole of the thread if you use Fast Reply but this obviously has other limitations.

This has been reported to the support admins earlier.

I believe IP.Board 2.0 showed the previous post in Fast Reply, whereas the Full Editor showed the previous 10 posts in reverse chron order (so you could scroll back by pressing Page Down). I'm not sure why this isn't "on" by default in IPB 3.0. Just another undocumented change, I guess. We'll report back to you on this.

    This is a greathelp, but.....

If you use the Fast Reply box at the bottom of the thread, you can view the previous posts above in the order they were posted, top to bottom.

If you use the 'normal' Reply, they appear in reverse order below the message entry.

Is there some clever logical reason behind this reversal I haven't realised? Would it be feasible to have either the posts appearing as 'normal' above a 'normal' replay, or could the 'Fast Reply' window just change to the full monty if you click on 'Reply'?

Obviously a very low priority request, but perhaps worthy of consideration at some distant future time...?
