E-Mail Editor (Outlook XP SR1)

What are the pros and cons of either Outlook or Word as your email editor in Outlook? I'd like to make an informed decision and don't have time for trial and error!

the big differences:
word gives you underline spell check and grammer and autocorrect.

outlook editor gives you limited autocorrect.

there are minor differences when inserting shortcuts, but you may never run into those issues. word has the better options and is easiest to switch formats on the fly.

i'd suggest trying word for a few weeks and then deciding if you want to continue using it. It's much improved over the 2000 version.

it took me several weeks to finally decide i couldn't go back to the outlook editor. i was reformatting often when beta testing and forgot to change to the outlook editor for a couple of days each time i reinstalled office. once i got busy and forgot - and when i remembered, i really didn't like the outlook editor anymore.

I never wanted to use Word as my mail editor, it just seemed like a lot more overhead. Then today I wanted to do a find/replace (OL 2000) and it wasn't on the menu. Foul language was heard in the vicinity. But that's the first time in a year that I've had a lament.

the word editor in ol2000 is not even close to the version is outlook 2002. the best i can say is that it was better than the outlook 97 version. but that wasn't hard - the 97 version was really awful.

i recommend anyone who tried it in previous versions to try it in xp. you'll be amazed at the improvements. i'd guess maybe 50-75% of people who hated word mail before stick with it after trying it with xp.
