Animated GIFs in Powerpoint? (Powerpoint 97 or 2000)

    Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is anyway to include an animated GIF in a powerpoint presentation?

    Thanks again

I Powerpoint 2000, animated gifs are inserted like any other picture. I honestly can't remember if PPT 97 supports animated gifs. Perhaps someone else out there will remind me.

    When I:

Insert > Picture > From File

and select the gif (which in Internet Explorer is an animation) I only get the first frame of the gif in the presentation. I was hoping that I would be able to get the animation running inside the powerpoint presentation also.

This is the same whether I use 2000 or 97

    Thankyou for your speedy response

You get the first frame while creating the slide, but when you do your slide show, any Gif should be animated. --Sam

GIF images are not supported in '97. There was a recent post on how to handle them (I think it was here?)

It basically involves using a GIF capable program to separate the image frames and put them on a slide and revealing them with animation.

    The suggestion was in <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=ppt&Number=71432&page=1 &view=expanded&sb=5&o=0#Post71432>this post</A>- but I don't know if it will work!

    Has anyone tried?
