Is something other than just new software happening in the Lounge? I notice that two, possibly more, formerly "titled" members (WMVP, Admin, etc.) are now simply listed as "Members". Just me, just wondering...

The short answer is yes. But I'll let someone who is directly involved offer up an explaination.

    Paul,

The previous lounge admins had put in many years work and felt that it was time to hand over to a new team. We chose to remain as members as we still value the lounge but we all felt that we needed a break.

In that case, thank you for a great job well done! Enjoy your semi-retirement. Let's hope the new team continues to provide the same high standard of help as you have provided in the past.

EVERY Admin decided to take a break and EVERY Admin decided that they would not even want to be retained as VIP's? ? ?

OK Stuart, I'll accwpt your answer (with quite a bit of skepticism)! Or was this what you were "advised" to explain? ? ?

    What a conincidence ! ! !

I find it quite amazing how many posts have been simply "disappearing" recently? ? ?

Maybe this post will aalso "disappear" ?

At Woody's request, WindowsSecrets.com accepted financial responsibility for the Lounge earlier this year, as explained in many other posts. The Windows Secrets team is currently paying for four full-time Admins, plus some part-time, to cover the Lounge: Tony Johnston, Dan Engler, Dennis O'Reilly, Stephanie Small, Kurt Naber (mostly weekends), Damian Wadley (full-time last summer, part-time in late November, full-time again in May). Woody and I are also Admins, but we do not receive salaries. He and I currently plan to hire a few additional Admins to cover the Lounge around the clock from a 24-hour network operations center.

This change to a paid management level has been discussed with every Admin for more than 12 months, beginning in November 2008 with meetings I flew to in London, Sydney, New York, and elsewhere. As StuartR indicated above, the older Admins are still participating after many years of service, but they no longer have to move threads and the like. Every Admin over the past 15 years has served the Lounge well and responsibly. Things change, and that's life.

I can't speak for Brian or the Windows Secrets organization, but they do publish a subscription newsletter. (I haven't tried it myself.)
