I have a user how wants charts (e.g. XY) always with a transparent background (not the grey one) and with some more customizations (e.g. series 1 not yellow but red). I looked briefly into Excel (2003) but couldn't find anything (I checked the chart dialog and the "User Defined" option but it isn't clear to me what that does and how I can use that. Then I looked at sheet styles but that didn't seem to do the trick as well... Any suggestions?

Let the user create a chart with the settings that they prefer.
Click once on the chart to select it.
    Select Chart | Chart type...
Click the button "Set as default chart" at the bottom of the dialog.
