I have a column with social security numbers entered in as ###-##-####. I need to format it to remove the dashes "-". How do I do that?

You should be aware that if the result gets saved as a numeric value you may get some surprises. If you don't want to permanently alter the column with the SSN, you can use a calculated column using the Left, Mid and Right functions. But you want to be sure to preserve the leading zeros when you do that. Example: A formual in cell A2 is being built from A1.
    = Left(A1,3)+Mid(A1,5,3)+Right(A1,4)
