For a friend: Has anyone ever come across simple shareware/freeware software to generate DST files from, say, jpeg files?
It seems to me like a limited market, so I'm not anticipating a flood of responses.
Failing that, any reputable providers of Custom Embroidery in North America?

For only US$ 1999.99, your friend can be the proud owner of Designer's Gallery's MasterWorks™ II (EDG-MW2).

But can you digitize embroidery designs?

The Pulse Ambasador program you gave a link to cannot convert jpg to dst..... it can only convert one embroidery format to another (there are many different ones out there depending on the machine you have.
The least expensive embroidery program out there is made by Embird, and to get the modules needed to do this will run about $200 give or take.
Unless the person wants to immerse themselves in the field of becoming a design digitizer for embroider machines, it will be quicker and cheaper to find a good digitizer and pay their fee, if we are talking just one design. Shop around via google, or your local embroidery storefronts.

Thanks Elizabeth; that's what my friend did.
And living, as she does, out in the country, she found a local "cottage-industry" type just like herself in the same little town!
