On a Word 2007 document is there a way of adding a water marked back ground with some type of protection that will not allow a user to remove?

A watermark is a floating shape placed in the header/footer layer. If you protect the document, users won't be able to edit headers and footers, including watermarks. Whether that is acceptable is for you to decide.

    Hi HansV
What Iím trying to accomplish is some type of back ground on a document for a demo. I want user to be able to use all the features (using VBA) but at the same time unable to remove some type of back ground that may say Sample Page. Do you have any suggestion

I don't think you can give a user full access to a document and yet protect the watermark.

Perhaps the thread Protecting Course Notes. (Word2000+) will give you some ideas.
