I thought these articles at Gizmodo.com were interesting.

Her bio: “Before she was a year old, Aimee Mullins had both legs amputated below the knee. Her family doctor said she'd never learn to walk. At the age of 19, she set world records in the 100-meter dash and long jump.” http://gizmodo.com/5399767/introduci...-aimee-mullins

Choosing a prosthesis: “When traveling, I try to always wear my Robocop legs “ http://gizmodo.com/5401408/is-choosi...air-of-glasses

Racing on Carbon Fiber Legs: “The revolutionary design of the woven carbon-fiber Cheetah Leg, nicknamed for its design inspiration, has been in existence for nearly 15 years—and after my initial triumphs with them in the mid 1990s, it has been the leg of choice for nearly all elite amputee sprinters. But in one instant, after Pistorius entered a summer 2007 track meet in Rome and placed second in a field of runners possessing flesh and bone legs, he and I were deemed too abled.” http://gizmodo.com/5403322/racing-on...d-should-we-be

Normal was Never Cool: “Ironically, by keeping more of the residual limb, you negate more options for different prosthetics, as there is no physical room to put the components” http://gizmodo.com/5404227/normal-wa...yline=true&s=x

We've had the Olympics for a long time now, and the Special Olympics for several decades, Perhaps we should start the Extra Special Olympics.
