    "Dark" courier font?

The courier fonts that come with Windows and Word are very light. Is there a heavier font out there? I recall the print output that resulted from WordPerfect 5.1 printing to a laser printer circa 1990-93 or so. This was darker, and in my opinion more readable. Or am I missing something in the Win3.1, 95, 98 and NT4 systems and Word versions I've been using since 1994?

The printer driver which loads the Dark Courier font is freely downloadable.

I think the Windows font you are referring to is "Courier New" and you are right that it comes out lighter than the Courier font produced by a typewriter. I think you may have had access to a printer font, "Courier" on your printer. That may have been what you were printing.

I just tried printing on my HP 5L using both Courier and Courier New. The Courier was slightly, but perceptibly, darker. I don't know but believe that the Courier font is built into the HP.

HP had a free Dark Courier that is availble (or was) at:

    Dark Courier

    The link is active again.

Download and install and you'll have a full set of Dark Courier.
