    Dial Up woes (IE 5.0)

    Changed ISP recently. Removed the old one from Dial Up and Outlook Express but after working OK initially for a few days it now it takes foreever to Dial Up the new ISP. After the modem dials up and connects the Dial Up dialogue box shows it trying to verify the user name and password TWICE then it takes maybe 3 minutes to sort itself out and make the connection. All the settings in the Dial Up Connection, IE and Outlook Express seem to be OK.

    Roger it sounds to me like you have the Log on to Network option enabled. This is not normally needed, certainly in this part of the world anyway, and can add delay to the log on process. Try unchecking it and see if things improve. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>
