I created a list using the Numbered and bulleted list buttons, plus the indent and outdent buttons.
All the top level items were numbered
    Second level items were bullets
It looked perfect in print preview
It was a right mess in the post, I will try to reproduce it here with a more simple list.

    1. First thing
    2. Second thing
      • Indented bullet
      • Another intended bullet
    Third thing[*]Fourth thing
    • Yet another indented bullet

I'll see if I can replicate that...

    1. Uno
    2. Dos
      • Un
      • Deux
      • Trois
    3. Tres

I used the little pop-up box and no manual formatting.

(Edited to remove the line break between the closing [/list] tag and the third numbered item.)

With indenting of the bulleted list...

    1. Uno
    2. Dos
      • Un
      • Deux
      • Trois
    3. Tres

With indenting of individual list items...

    1. Uno
    2. Dos
      • Un
  3. Deux
  • Trois
  • Tres

Perhaps the problem occurs when you revise the list incrementally, some tags getting crossed or with multiple previews and re-renderings?

It looks like we may want to look into the rich editor and it's clean-up routines for nested listed and similar conditions to ensure that the conditions described (broken nested lists) don't occur within the BBCode markup on incremental posting.
