Anyone else getting this a lot? It's driving me nuts. Also, windows Update Installer keeps crashing, even when I manually download the update. Windows 7 is super fast, but I am having major issues with things like these and programs not installing.

    Welcome to "Windows Secrets Lounge"

Is this install of Windows 7 a clean or upgrade install?
    If upgrade, from what OS?

Have you tweaked your copy of Windows 7?

Could you list some of these programs with issues, by name and version?

Tell is more about the hardware?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

You can try Repair & Fix Windows Updates with Fix WU Utility | The Windows Club for the Windows Update errors.

You may also want to run the System File Checker utility. Note: run SFC.exe as administrator.

I would call it clean. I couldn't get the disk to boot, but I opted for a new install over the upgrade. No tweaking.

I so far cannot install Vuze, Yahoo Messenger, Google Earth.
I can live with some programs not being compatible yet, but windows explorer and windows update installer are kind of important. Oh yeah, and not that I use it, but IE 8 doesn't work either.

Not sure what the SFC program should look like but it opens and closes a window before I can even see it.

I tried that utility, but no luck.

What is the make and model of this machine?

How RAM and empty disk space?

What version of Windows 7 , Home standard, Home Premium, Pro or what?

What type of user account "Admin" or "Standard"?

What happens when you try using IE8?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

You need to run SFC from an elevated command window.

Used to be called a DOS window. Click on the start orb then type in cmd, right click cmd.exe and select "run as administrator".

    From here....
Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are also known a 843 at another forum, there you stated it happens when "Right clicking" a application?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Nope. That's not me.

I ran that program. It found corrupted files and was able to fix "some" of them. That is good I guess. My issues continue however.

IE crashes a tab and then restores it if you try to type in a field.

Windows Explorer closes about 50% of the time you open a folder or My Computer.

The newest windows update will not install. It closes whether done through the auto update or manually.

Yahoo IM will not install (Probably not-compatible. Not worried)
Vuze will not install (Probably not-compatible. Not worried)
Google Earth will not install (Probably not-compatible. Not worried)

    Kinda shocked Belarc did...

    Question:
    1.
Where did you get your copy of Windows 7?
    2. Have you tested your RAM?
