When I try using Excel 2007 with some very large spreadsheets, the calculation and refresh rate is extremely slow and sometimes just hangs up. The same spreadsheets using Excel 2003 refresh is just a few seconds. Checking Google I've found this to be a common problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks............Toby

I haven't run into the problem you describe but I would note that most of the posts discussing slow refresh in 2007 vs 2003 are from the first release of Office 2007.
So I would check the following:
Does your Excel 2007 install have current service packs?
Is it a video driver issue?
Are there add-ins present in your 2007 install that aren't in your 2003 install? Can you disable them?

I'd also review this article from the MS Developer Center about improving spreadsheet performance. Most of this will probably be familiar to you, but there are a couple of calculation options that weren't previously available (excluding data tables from automatic recalculation).
