Does anyone know if the network activity animation feature of the Network notififcation area ICON of previous windows was deleted from Windows 7 or just simply moved to some obtuse area by accident.

It was removed by MS in both Windows Vista and 7.

This should get you going though.

Way cool! Thanks Ryan! There were hundreds of gripes about that in the 7b forums....

I removed the zip file above because the author says the a commercial license is required to distribute the program in any way other than to download it from his site.

A link to the site is sufficient.

    Ryan,

Got it from the authors web page and it works great.

Now when my Hi Speed connection is having a bad day I will not immediately think it has expired.

Thanks, Joe! I was going to say that, regardless of copyright issues, a link is preferable because it will/should always get the latest version of the program, whereas an attachment program version is fixed in time...

Excellent find by Ryan! I was asking about this 'missing feature' on the Lounge only about a fortnight ago...

    Thanks guys,

I appreciate the heads up on the copyright issue. I'm typically very good about reading that type of info before posting. Busy day yesterday! Glad it was useful!

I'm looking forward to contributing more.

Way cool! You know if I get enough of my old furniture moved in here, this 7 might begin to feel like home.

And we look forward to your future contributions. That is a good find and I wouldn't worry about the copyright police coming to take you away. The site plainly states:

    License

This utility is released as freeware. You are allowed to freely distribute this utility via floppy disk, CD-ROM, Internet, or in any other way, as long as you don't charge anything for this. If you distribute this utility, you must include all files in the distribution package, without any modification!
However, I do agree with BATcher.
    Regards,
    PaulB

I noticed that, but elsewhere on the SAME site it says...

A commercial license is required to use the software in any way not covered above, including for example:

    * Redistributing the software in any manner

Confusing, isn't it. I still wouldn't worry about the copyright police. I could argue that as the license I quoted was on the Network Activity Indicator utility's page it was intended to override the general provisions found at the link you provided.

In any event, I think the better solution is to do as Joe did for the reasons stated by BATcher.
    Regards,
    PaulB
