Is anyone else having problems with Thunderbird since downloading the Avast 4.8 update? I did the update yesterday and now Thunderbird is taking forever to open messages.

I have been using both for quite some time, and have not had any problems.

I haven't had any problems either. What version of TB are you running?

I hadn't been having problems until last week, either. It seemed to start after downloadig the latest update of the Avast program, but if I disable Avast, the problem does not go away.

I don't know what else to say. I am running the same version of TB and "opening of messages" isn't taking any time at all. I wonder if there could be a problem with your ISP or the port number or something on that order that could have changed recently?

Just for the heck of it, here's a shot of my Avast - which only recently updated the "program" as well as the definitions file.
