Does anyone know how to change the background color (from the bright white) of Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) in any of the themes other than the Classic theme. The white is too much for my eyes. THANKS for any help.

You can get the answer in Help by searching for Change colors and using the links in the directions. Essentially it's this--right click on desktop and select personalize. Then choose Windows Color, Advanced Appearance settings, scroll down to Windows and change the color.

I haven't tried this but take a read of this to see if it's of any value: Change background color of Windows Themes

Thanks Big Al for your reply. I read the link that you gave and it works to change most window backgrounds
, but not the Windows Explorer background. I wish I knew why MS would want it this way. The only way
that I can get a change is to use the Classic themes. THANKS to all.

I have the same problem and the only way I've been able to deal with it to use Fn Key+F10. Or whatever F key has the Sun
    Icon on it.
