Since the sig images seem to disappear left, right and center, I thought I might use something like

    Not [attachment=86967aveA_sig.gif]

    at least until mine resurfaces.

Wadda ya say? I mean, like, it's not as if you're still currently using it.

If you do a "hard reload" bypassing the cache (in Firefox, hold Shift, in IE I think you hold Ctrl), then you won't see Dave's signature graphic any more.

Can you tell us more about the image problem with signatures? I can see images in both the PaulB and DaveA signatures. I don't believe the Admins did anything that would eliminate images from signatures.

There seems to have been a http://lounge.windowssecrets.com/w3tuserpics/ directory that is no longer available. (Check the underlying html for this page.....)

Users other than PaulB and DaveA - who had pics in the Signatures - now have no pics showing any more. Only flags seemed to have escaped........

Isn't that Ctrl+R in Fx, as compared to F5?

Brian, all I can tell you is that a day or two ago my signature started to show up with the term "Posted Image" replacing the graphic of my name.

DaveA's graphic is now also exhibiting the same behavior. (Maybe Jefferson had something to do with that.)

Jefferson, I like your sense of humor. I really do. This one cracked me up.

In Firefox, Ctrl+R still does a freshness check. To completely bypass the cache, you have to add the Shift key into the mix.

Yep, I mixed some matters; I know about "hard refresh".

OK; Ctrl+R simple refresh as its menu item says; F5 refreshes as well, same; (shift-F5 does nothing in Fx nor IE); and yes Ctrl+R plus a shift (put the “shift” anywhere on the left side of the equation ) = "hard reload", to use your words.

Don't know what I was talking about earlier, OTOH you can do a Ctrl+F5 in Fx and that's a "hard refresh", I think, with only 2 keys (albeit a bit far away) instead of 3 keys. (If so, that would mean Ctrl+F5 does a "hard refresh" in both Fx and IE; on the other hand Ctrl+R also work in IE ... adding combinations to the mixture ...)

Brian, the HTML for my signature shows the graphic to be stored at www.wopr.com/w3tuserpics/PaulB_sig.gif but this gets redirected to lounge.windowssecrets.com/w3tuserpics/PaulB_sig.gif, which appears to no longer exist. Will one or the other eventually be restored?

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry this took several days to resolve, but you should now be able to access all of the images that were once located in the /w3tuserpics directory on the server. As a result of the jump in member registrations on December 2nd we started getting dangerously low on disk space and I was methodically moving large directories (images, uploads) off of the main disk and onto attached volumes. Sometime during that process, it looks like the /w3tuserpics directory was moved to the wrong place or just deleted completely.

Today I retrieved a copy of the directory from an archive and restored it to the correct place. If you see any other issues that may have been caused by this activity, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Tony
