I searched +message +storage and came up empty so ....
Might there be installed a mechanism or two installed to automatically remove stale messages?
I can dream up lots of options, amongst them
    (a) remove oldest 50% when my input box exceeds 90%
    (b) remove oldest 50% when my output box exceeds 90%
    (c) notify me with an email link when either box exceeds 90%
    etc. etc.
My memory isn't what it, what it, ... (?) but I recall this issue about a year ago when a message box filled up and users were inhibited from posting a message.
I think that one of the old Lounge incarnations used to keep messages for about 14 days and then trash them. I could be wrong. My memory isn't what it used to be. or did I already say that?

    Chris,

We currently have a very effective mechanism.
    • We display a status message showing you what percentage of your message quota has been used.
    • You notice that it is running a bit low and delete the messages that are least important to you.

I think, only if one is *IN* the message area.
I recall a problem in that many/several people posted messages and got bounced because the message box had reached/exceeded the limit. If the recipient was unaware that messages had been posted they were equally unaware that they were at or near the limit.
I think too in the Old Lounge messages were automatically trashed after a fixed period.
