I have a document which has a lot of footnotes. The footnotes seem to be okay, but the line which goes in automatically above them appears to be showing a number immediately before the line. The number appears to correspond with the page number, which is shown separately at the top of each page within the header. I have tried everything to get rid of this number but nothing seems to work. The footer line is obviously sitting within the header and footer, but I don't seem to be able to click on it. Any help would be much appreciated!

Could you create a copy of the document, remove most of the text (but leave at least one footnote), make sure that all sensitive information has been deleted or altered, and attach it to a reply?

Many thanks for offering, but I finally copied the whole document (apart from the last few carriage returns) into a completely new file and the problem has disappeared. Must have been a bug in the first document!
    Thanks again!
