    In Scuttlebut I have essayed with a poll.
    To my surprise the poll appeared almost as a separate post above my real post;
    I had thought it would appear as part of my post, below my text, as in:
    "Here's a stunning fact, what do you think?".
    I don't mind it being left as-is to serve as an example (i.e. no need to apply a fix), but perhaps we could have an explanation of what-I-did-wrong so we'll know better next time?
    Thanks.

    You did nothing wrong, afaik that is how all polls will appear using the IPB3 forum software.

    IPB polls are associated with a thread, not with a single post. This is how they behaved in IPB V2 as well.

    Thanks Stuart.
    I don't think I issued a poll in V2, so perhaps I'm remembering one of the earlier incarnations of The Lounge.

    It appears to require fairly major surgery if we tried to radically alter IPB 3's look of polls. When you create one, the poll starts the thread, so your post should say "please vote in the poll above" or similar language to indicate your interest in starting the poll.

    A couple of relevant polling quotations:
    "Vote early, and vote often..."
    "If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal."
