I was surfing when I accidentally clicked on the Win7 taskbar and up popped a message that Bit Defender 2010 had been unable to connect to the update servers and had disabled itself until updates were completed!!!! God knows how long I had been surfing without protection.

BD was constantly trying to sneak install Windows Explorer updates (I use Firefox) and every reboot displayed an annoying request that I confirm BD by clicking on an email link.

I have thrown BD away and installed AVG 9.0

Nevertheless, it may be wise to keep IE updated.

Windows Explorer is different from Internet Explorer and is the heart of your windows installation. You do need to update it.

Bit defender screwed up my system royally. I ditched it, and lost my one year, 3 PC subscription fee. That's how much I hated Bit Defender.
