    Hello, I have done this before, but I don't remember how I did it.
    The document would have a sentence for example:

    The apple was color.

    The word color would have a black background and if you
    clicked on that word you would then be able to type in its place.
    So you could then click on the word color and type in red or green for example.

    I am guesing that the Word processing application that you use is Microsoft Word, probably version 2003 or 2007.

    Your description sounds like a Text Formfield, but that only works if the document is protected for forms. Is the attached document the kind of thing that you were thinking of?

    Hmm...

    Maybe you are thinking of a Macrobutton? But you would still have to type over the word color.

    Here is another approach that may work for you. I have used word art with color highlighting
    Below is an attached copy in word 2007, I believe this can be accomplished with other versions of word.
