I would like to set my Windows Media Player (version 11) to play from my USB headset without having to change my default speaker in Windows Vista Control Panel (Sounds) because I would like my Windows and Office Sounds, and my Skype ringing, to still come out of my computer speakers. I can't find any way to do this. Can you help?

Is there an output USB port on your sound card?

The new sound cards have a built-in USB port which configures the USB headset automatically on every use. The sound card on your computer might not have the built-in USB port that transmits the signals to the headset; this might be the reason you have to configure the USB headset manually on every use. If you want to use USB headset without configuring it manually, I would suggest you purchase a sound card which has a USB port as an output.
