    Scatter Charts (Excel 2000)

Can I plot two values so that a single datapoint represents the intersection of these two values on the chart? I have a value for Satisfaction and a value for Importance (my two axis). All I can get is two separate series on the chart for each category.

I'm having trouble understanding the question. If the attached spreadsheet is like what you want, then I did it via Chart > Source Data, Series Tab, Add button, and inserted the X & Y values. If this dosn't help, or if you need it done with VBA, please give us more details. --Sam

Well, I thought I attached a file. I'll try again.

In the worksheet, if you have Satisfaction in one column and Importance in the next column, select both columns and choose Scatter Plot. You should get Satisfaction on one axis and Importance on the other. Each point would be located in the plot area according to those two values together.

Well duh! <img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15> Thanks Jim for seeing that it was really a more fundamental question than I thought. The Chart > AddData menu adds two series for scatter charts instead of one and that's what I thought the question was about. --Sam
