I've been using/developing in Access for a long time, and I've never seen this before. I have a query that I'm exporting as fixed length text. I have a specification set up, and it specifies that one of the fields is 6 characters in length. The field in the table is defined as a number (long integer). When I perform the export using the specification only the first 4 digits are exported, followed by two spaces. The rest of the file looks good. I was able to work around this by doing a left(field_name,6), but I'm perplexed as to why it's doing it.

Anybody have any information on this?

    Thanks,

    Brian

I've seen similar behavior in 2000 where the export routines did bizzare things to data, and I also encountered some odd things exporting boolean fields and date fields to fixed length records in 2007. It seems the export process is one of the most dicey parts of Access. They did however fix alot of things in 2007 SP2.
