    Hi Arthur,

    Look I'm no expert, far from it, but I was wondering why you were attempting to restore in safe mode. Instead, might I suggest you try selecting item 5, Command prompt, in the Startup Menu and then type scanreg /restore in the prompt window; another tip I have picked up is to leave a space between scanreg and /

    PS. Another way of backing up the registry is to go to Start, select Run, type scanregw and click OK
