Has anyone had an experience with an Error 4201 in Vista that prevents the Windows Event Log service from running? I experienced this recently with an upgraded application that suddenly uses a copy protection scheme that requires the Event Log to run. Previous version didn't have this scheme and worked fine. Microsoft's KB seems to have thrown up their hands and said to format HD and reinstall Vista. Their other options aren't reliable or make things worse. I'm not into the "nuclear option" as often it's only a time saver for them and never reveals the real problem. Don't really want to reinstall all of my application software and data and reset many program options. Any thoughts or experiences?
