I recently purchased a 250gb IDE laptop harddrive but when I installed it it only showed as 130gb. Can anyone explain why this should be and possibly how I can access the full 250gb.
    Many thanks.

I bought it from ebuyer, it's a western digital. I'm running XP Prof. but not sure about the BIOS. What should I be looking for?

I'm guessing the OS is XP, but either way, I can't find any technical specs that address HD size limits. But I would suspect from what I did find that it's a hardware limitation, probably in the BIOS.

You might check the owner's manual or the Fujitsu site for some clues.

Many thanks. I'll look on the Fujitsu site to see if there is anything there.

Thanks again for the quick replies, a refreshing change from some other so called help forums.

    Have a nice Christmas..

I hope the OS is at least XP SP2 because I vaguely remember the original XP as well as XP SP1 being limited to addressing a maximum of 128GB on a given drive.
