    Auto Save (Excel 2K)

Is there a way to make Excel auto save every 10 or 15 minutes like Word does? If the only solution is a macro, please be specific on how to install it... (newbie!)

    Thanks!

I'm sitting at XL 95 right now - but I believe it is the same.
Go to Tools, Addins and check AutoSave.
The next time you go to your Tools menu, you'll find AutoSave as an option. You can then tell XL how often you wish to save.

    <P ID="edit" class=small>Edited by WebGenii on 19-Sep-01 16:42.</P>Hi,

If I may say, Excel 97's Autosave is insidious, because it overwrites your original file, unlike the Word Autosave. Use it at your peril!!

After that, checkout the Compuserve Forum for Microsoft Office at:

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://forums.compuserve.com/vlforums/default.asp?SRV=MSOfficeForum>http://forums.compuserve.com/vlforums/defa...V=MSOfficeForum</A>

and check Files/Downloads and Excel files. There you will find "AUTOSAFE" which is the facility Excel should have had.

Try it and see if it does what you want.

    Good Luck!

    Re: Auto Save (Excel 2K)

No, I recommended it based on the quality of the answers you give here. My use of spreadsheets consists mostly of opening several once a day and updating one row of numbers. That usually takes less than one minute. When I am involved in developing a project, I usually save every few minutes so I can test the last bit of code that I wrote. AutoSave just never seemed appropriate.

There is a freeware AutoSave addin written by Jan Karel Pieterse Here that I have heard is MUCH better than the one from Microsoft. Look near the bottom of the page for AutoSafe.
