    can not install printers

I have Win2k, SR1 and for reason something changed such that I can't print at all even to Acrobat. I have uninstalled all printer drivers (I have one physical printer, one Acrobat and eFax driver) but when I went to install my physical printer the install fails. Now I have no printers. I am in the admin group for my PC. When the 'add printer' wizard finishes, the error "printer driver was not installed. access is denied" is displayed. The test page didn't print of course. The printer is connected to the PC and turned on. I must of changed something somewhere to make this happen as I've never been able to not install a printer.

Any hints on what this might be? Rebooting does nothing.

What you are say is that your account has Admin permissions?
Have you checked to make sure that yous still have Admin permissions?

Are any of these printers on a network?

When installing software and hardware I always log in as the "Administrator", and I have not had this problem.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: can not install printers

Yes, these are local printers. Actually only one is a physical printer, the other is Acrobat. What I mean by 'admin permission' is that when I look at the user profiles, I am listed in the administrator group (from MyComputer/Properties/User Profiles). I do not log on as admin but as myself. I've never had problems installing a printer until now so something got messed up somewhere. I don't use the physical printer much but it sure would be nice to have access to Acrobat to create PDF files.

Any ideas on what might of gotten messed up?

If you can log in as the Administrator, if not have some one who can, and try to install this printers. You may have lost the permissions to add and make hardware changes. Check with your IT people.
